We apologise for the dearth of music from us but MogaDisco have been on a summer break, luckily we’re back. Our latest mix features the late, great Alex Konadu (aka “One Man 1000” for his ability to draw large crowds). Legend has it that one of his shows in Accra was so popular that it caused a traffic jam for miles around. It is with slight bitterness that this mix has arisen; having purchased a LP of his recently from an online African music retailer (I won’t name names) I discovered, much to my dismay, a different record inside the sleeve! When pulled-up on this mishap the retailer replied that it must have gone missing. Clearly he wanted to hold on to the LP for himself and its easy to understand why. The beautiful harmonies, intricate guitar work and underlying melancholy place Alex Konadu as one of the King’s of Ghanaian Highlife. His most famous song ‘Asaase Asa’ is still a classic for Ghanaian funerals. We hope you enjoy!Tracklist
